Ja, dann müsste man sich noch nach einem geeigneten Backup umsehen. Dass sein Vertrag erst so spät per Option verlängert würde klingt auch ein bisschen komisch. Könnte es vielleicht am finanziellen liegen? Ich habe keine Ahnung von den Gehältern und Verträgen im Kader, könnte mir aber vorstellen, dass Izzy nach seiner starken Anfangsphase nicht der am schlechtesten verdienende Spieler ist und den dann die meiste Zeit auf die Bank zu setzen, weil er den potenziellen zukünftigen Kapitän vor seiner Nase hat, ist halt nicht unbedingt wirtschaftlich.
Nur so eine spontane Idee, aber vielleicht ist ja ein bisschen was dran. Würde mich freuen, wenn jemand was dazu sagen könnte, der da ein bisschen mehr Einblick hat.

Klingt ja schon sehr konkret. Ich kann mir eigentlich nicht vorstellen, dass der Verkauf wesentlich von unserer Seite forciert worden ist, eher das die Saudis in der letzten Woche relativ kurzfristig mit einem sehr profitablen Angebot (bedenkt man Alter, Status und Vertragssituation) für Izzy an uns herangetreten sind und auch ihm finanzielle Konditionen angeboten haben, die ihn, in Kombination mit der Möglichkeit nochmal Stammspieler zu werden, von dem Wechsel überzeugt haben.
Izzy war wirklich einer der loyalsten Spieler, nie eine Beschwerde nach dem Verlust des Stammplatzes, nie ein öffentlich geäußerter Wechselwunsch, für uns war er als backup natürlich sehr komfortabel. Mal sehen, wen wir jetzt als Ersatz holen, nur mit Tierney und Calvin Miller, der ja nichtmal ausgebildeter leftback ist, in die Saison zu gehen, kann ich mir eigentlich nicht vorstellen.

Wäre nicht nachzuvollziehen, nachdem man bereits den jungen O`Connell verkaufte.
Heute hätte man ihn sicherlich gut gebrauchen können.

Erik Sviatchenko geht laut Gerüchten zu Kopenhagen. Damit hätte ich kein Problem bei einer ordentlichen Ablöse. 3-4 Millionen stehen wohl im Raum.
