Nesbitt the hat-trick hero as Celtic lift Youth Cup
AIDAN Nesbitt hammered in a hat-trick to help Celtic’s Development Side rout Rangers 5-1 at Hampden and lift the SFA Youth Cup for a record 14th time.
Sam Wardrop had deservedly opened the scoring for the Hoops youngsters in the 21st minute but Calum Waters’ unfortunate own goal immediately restored parity. Nesbitt put Stevie Frail’s side back in command with a superb solo effort, before Luke Donnelly continued his remarkable scoring run in the competition to give them a two-goal cushion at the break. The winger bagged his brace in the second half, capping off a sweeping passing move that cut the Rangers defence apart. And he completed his treble from the penalty spot with 16 minutes left on the clock after Kieran Tierney had been felled in the box by Craig Halkett.
Dylan Dykes struck a late consolation at the death for Ian Durran’t side but that couldn’t take the shine of a sensational showing from the young Celts as they completely outclassed the Ibrox side. And there were scenes to savour at the final whistle as the players and backroom team celebrated on the pitch before lifting the trophy at the National Stadium.

Young Celts defeated by slick Chelsea U-21s
A YOUNG Celtic Development Squad were beaten 5-0 by a polished and well-drilled Chelsea side in the Premier League International Cup at the EBB Stadium in Aldershot. An unforgiving opening 15 minutes of quick passing and inventive movement from the home team left the Hoops with a mountain to climb as they conceded three without reply before Kasey Palmer made it 4-0 just after 22 minutes with a well-struck free-kick. The margin could have been greater in the first-half were it not for a string of fine saves from Leo Fasan in the Celtic goal but there was little he could have done for each of Chelsea's strikes. The Bhoys put in an improved showing in the second-half and managed to keep their hosts largely at bay, with Chelsea midfielder Charlie Colkett also seeing red for two poor challenges late on but they failed to find a way through the Blues rearguard before a late penalty from Reece Miller rubbed salt into the wounds. The Celts will now look to get back to winning ways with next week's game against Liverpool.
