Calvin Miller signs new three-year deal with Celtic
CELTIC Football Club is delighted to announce that Calvin Miller has signed a new three-year deal with the champions. The 18-year-old attacker put pen to paper on a new contract at Celtic Park this afternoon and will be looking to push his way into the first-team plans of new manager Brendan Rodgers after an impressive season for Tommy McIntyre’s Development Squad. The Castlemilk lad has been at the club since age 12 and has worked his way up through the youth ranks at the Academy to become one of the brightest prospects in the Development side.

In der ersten Runde des "neuen" Challenge Cup geht es für unseren Nachwuchs also gegen einen Viertligisten, ich bin wirklich mal gespannt, wie sie sich da schlagen!

Nach dem deutlichen 5-1 Sieg der U-20 über Annan Athletic in der ersten Runde des neuen Fish&Chips Cups (der jetzt passender Weise offiziell Irn Bru Cup heißt), gab es gestern in der nächsten Runde einen weiteren Erfolg gegen die blauen Brasilianer aus Cowdenbeath (der dadurch noch einmal eine besondere Würze bekommen hat, dass deren aktueller Chairman kein geringerer als Donald Findlay ist):

Celtic face Livingston in the Irn Bru Cup

CELTIC'S Under-20 side will play Livingston in the third round of the Irn Bru Cup. Tommy McIntyre's side, who have already seen off League Two sides Annan Athletic (5-1) and Cowdenbeath (2-1), now face a tough away trip to take on the League One side.

The tie is scheduled for the weekend of September 2/3. Match details to be confirmed. Reaction to the draw from coach Tommy McIntyre to follow on the official Celtic website.

Young Celts' Irn Bru Cup adventure comes to an end
CELTIC Under-20s saw their Irn Bru Cup campaign come to end after they were beaten 5-1 by Livingston at the Tony Macaroni Arena. The Bhoys conceded five times inside the opening 40 minutes as the League One outfit handed their younger opponents a harsh lesson. Experienced striker Liam Buchanan did most of the damage, scoring twice, including once from the penalty spot after Anthony Ralston had been penalised for a challenge on Danny Mullen. Sean Crighton, Danny Mullen and Jackson Longridge also found the net for the hosts before Regan Hendry pulled a goal back with a sublime long-range strike. A battling second-half display from the young Celts went unrewarded but they could still hold heads high as they exited the competition, given they were they advanced further than any other of the Colt teams.

CELTIC’S Development Side slipped to their first league defeat since May 2015 today (Monday) as Ross County recorded a 1-0 victory over Tommy McIntyre’s men in Dumbarton. The only goal of the game came in the first-half when striker, Greg Morrison knocked home a cross in the 36th minute.

Euro disappointment for young Celts at Cappielow
CELTIC Under-19s were defeated 4-0 by their Manchester City counterparts at Cappielow in their second group game of this season’s UEFA Youth League today (Wednesday). First-half goals from Javairo Dilrosun and Rodney Kongolo put the English Premier League side in charge at the break. And, although the young Hoops mounted a spirited response in second period, they couldn’t grab the goal to give them hope and substitute Isaac Buckley-Rickets sealed the spoils for the away side by bagging a late brace. While it was a disappointing afternoon for Tommy McIntyre’s team, it will be a valuable learning experience for the club’s young players against high-calibre opponents, and they will look to bounce back in their next fixture in the competition against Borussia Monchengladbach.

A magical moment was then crystallized for a talented young Celtic prospect as 13-year-old Karamoko Dembele replaced Aitchison with just under 10 minutes left to make his debut at that level – seven years above his age group.

Kann jemand mehr zu dem 13 Jährigen Karamoko Dembele sagen?

Scheint eines der grössten Talente seiner Sorte zu sein. Sorry, wenn einer mit 13 Jahren ab und an mit der ersten trainiert. dann muss der schon richtig etwas drauf haben. Gibt auch interesante Videos von dem Jungen.

Die Medien überschlagen sich natürlich, was Dembele betrifft. Ganz ehrlich finde ich auch, daß ein 13 jähriger in einer U 20 nichts zu suchen hat.

Ja, hat einen ganz schönen Hype ausgelöst, und es mehren sich gerade auch krirtische Stimmen. Ich denke, das wirkliche Problem ist nicht, dass ein zweifellos sehr talentierter Spieler mit 13 mal 9 MInuten bei der U-20 mitspielen darf (dort sind ja auch viele 16 und 17-jährige am Start und so hoch ist das Niveau in der schottischen Development League-Spiel jetzt auch nicht), sondern was anschließend in den Medien daraus gemacht wird. Da sollte der Verein schon aufpassen, denn auch wenn er fußballerisch vielleicht schon mit den Älteren mithalten kann, ist er trotzdem im Grunde noch ein Kind.



Und für ein Kind ist solch ein Rummel mit Sicherheit nicht gut, da sollten sich alle Parteien mal ein bisschen mehr Zurückhaltung auferlegen! Denn wie ich letztens an anderer Stelle schonmal geschrieben habe, sonst sehe ich wirklich die Gefahr eines zweiten Falles Feruz, dem der Medienhype irgendwann irreparabel den Kopf verdreht hat.
